Message	But if is a big word. To buy with confidence you need a thorough mechanical inspection. (I don't know of anybody in IL to do that.) Also, what is the maintenance history of this car and what records are there of it. The aforementioned valve issue is a biggy and should be explored. Maybe you could pay this guy a small refundable deposit for an option to buy agreement. That way you could get a short term commitment from him to sell it to you while you a get an inspection done. Get the agreement in writing with a specified period of time, and see if you can get him to let you have the title while the agreement is in effect in exchange for the deposit.
